Hola, mi Gente!

Updated: Jan 1, 2022

Welcome to the slice of the internet that I am carving out a a space for BIPOC folxs to find healing and rest from the chaos that is our world from a U.S. context.

The 2020 dumpster fire year gave me the gift of time at home with my sweet baby love, Landon, while I thought about self-care from a new perspective. Self-care to me had always been about disassociating who I was as a Latina. I entered wellness spaces that were focused on the white, heteronormative, patriarchal ideals. This was not my jam!

My dream wellness space would allow me to connect with my ancestors, connect to my spirituality, and look at yoga and meditation not for physical achievement, but a soul/body (re)connection. So, I said to myself, (insert internal voice) "yo if you don't see yourself out there, make something out there for you and others."

Lightbulb moment! Okey dokey so I took El Nino Prodigio's advice and said, "Ok take it easy!". I started a 200 hour online yoga training in November 2020. What a benefit of the 2020 pandemic that I was able to take a yoga teacher training while at home, working full-time, being a mami and wife.

Then, I had the chance to be a part of the Decolonizing Your Teaching training through Afro Yoga (Holla, Ms. Angie!). That space of mentorship with other womxn of color empowered me to name what it was that I was trying to do. To gain the confidence to share what I am doing and maybe make a little money on the side (yo, transparency, please!).

Now, if you have made it this far, I want to thank you for your time. Thank you for taking the one minute read to learn more about how this space is about a comunidad for folxs of color to see yoga and meditation as a way to radical healing. Thank you for just being a cool human that is taking the time to learn about someone else.

Now call to action....

Join me on Instagram where you can see me doing some definite Reels fails, creating motivation, and standing up for social justice.

La Brega Yoga Flow & Meditation is about continuing the struggle of fighting for justice by taking up space in a world that would easily throw us to the side. This is our birthright to continue fighting for our children and our ancestors. Your ability to reset, reflect, and renew is what will keep justice for ALL moving forward.

Vamos con La Brega!
